A tea bush can grow to several metres in height, but for ease of plucking tea leaves, the plant is regularly cropped at four feet..

This process also turns the plant into a bush. Not all tea is suitable for plucking. For the best quality tea only the tender shoots (two leaves and the bud) located at the top of the tea bush are plucked.

PLUCKING (harvesting)

Tea is gathered in a large woven basket. The daily average collected by tea pickers is 30-35 kg. Care is taken so as not to damage the leaves by overstuffing the basket, which will cause the leaf to break and lose its quality.

The entire process of plucking may create a sense of tranquillity in the minds of the visitors to the plantations, which transmits as a reverberation to those, many tens of thousands of kilometres around the world, who take pleasure in enjoying this wonderful beverage.
